Instructions to Contributors: Unsolicited manuscripts are welcome for consideration for the fall, winter, and spring issues.  Articles for the themed summer yearbook issues are generally by invitation.  Most manuscripts are peer-reviewed for significance and soundness via blind  peer review by scholars in the respective subject areas.  Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that they have not been accepted for publication or published elsewhere. Since the Winter 1990 issue (Volume 59), manuscripts published in The Journal of Negro Education have conformed to the guidelines set forth in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. For general questions of style, authors should consult the fifth edition of the APA Manual.  Authors should submit an original and two (2) copies of each manuscript, double-spaced throughout. The length should not exceed 25 pages, including the references. An abstract of no more than 120 words should precede the text of the article. Citations must be indicated within the text (by author name and year) and complete references must be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript. Tables (not more than 4) must be typed separately, titled, and cited in the text. Figures and graphs (not more than 2) must be two-dimensional, grayscale, and camera‑ready. If applicable, please indicate in your cover letter the type of computer and program (including version number) used to prepare the manuscript, but do not send a diskette or CD; an electronic version will only be requested if the article is accepted.

Books for Review:  Publishers/authors who would like their book(s) reviewed should send two (2) copies for review. Books will not be returned. Book/Media Review Editor(s) make the final choice of books for review.
